Fall is just around the corner..... 09/02/2010
....but it's not here yet! We should start to get some new fall arrivals in the store next week and while it's always exciting to get boxes full of new clothes, I'm not convinced yet that we've really reached the end of summer. The weather out there is too fantastic! But our summer clearance sale is winding down. There are still some great end-of-summer deals to be had though. We've also just received some new Morena Clothing pieces that are perfect for this end-of-summer weather. Velvet pocket skirts, organic cotton tunics and a soft knit baby blue bolero to throw on your shoulders on those crisp, cool evenings. Ahh summer - it was just too good! Amazing Summer Sale - starts today! 08/12/2010

There are still some summer treasures left in the store like this one last Allison Wonderland skirt (it's a size 6).... We also have one of these Cici Tula skirts left (also size 6).... And this one last Cinder + Smoke jacket (size large) made of beautiful organic cotton.... We still have a couple of Togs tanks which are also made of organic cotton.... And a new color of Sabrina Butterfly capris just came in - an earthy sage color.... So come in soon and help us make room for all the fantastic fall pieces that we are so excited about! Market Day Sale! 07/15/2010
Come visit our Market Day booth on 5th street this Friday for the first sale of the summer! We'll be located right on 5th Street around Duncan Avenue and will have select items on sale (one day only) as well as amazing deals on items from our sale rack. We also just got some brand new, and VERY cute, Floating Gold Iceberg tanks, shorts, dresses and capris that we'll take over to our booth as well. I really, really love Cara and Angie from Floating Gold Iceberg for getting all this cuteness to us in time for Market Day! The Turnable Tank can be worn with either side in the front.... The Petite Trou shorts have an adorable cuff that you can fold up when you want shorter shorts, as well as great back pockets.... And the new Floating Gold Iceberg Derby dresses are made from beautiful recycled bed sheets.... We also have some new Floating Gold Iceberg leather key chains.... And our new but very antique dress form is wearing the last Zelda Grace dress. I have one in blue that I've been trying not to wear every day of the week. This lighter one is made of vintage Italian linen and comes with a slip (not pictured here) with a pretty lace bottom that you can wear just peeking out. Here it's shown with a Floating Gold Iceberg Modern Love Square Scarf and a Bennie and Olive belt.... I think an antique dress form wearing Floating Gold Iceberg will be the perfect addition to our booth - see you at Market Day!! We3, Dear Pony, and Loden Clothing 07/10/2010
So to continue the theme from yesterday, here are a few more items that would be great for one of our fantastic summer festivals. We have some pieces in by We3 that would be perfect for Musicfest today in this heat. Here's the Variation Top (made of bamboo and organic cotton) - which can be worn in several different ways (including as a skirt)..... And the Macro Mobius by We3 is a great way to cover shoulders from the sun without getting too warm as it's made from a really thin viscose from bamboo. And then when the sun goes down you can use it as a scarf or hood - the perfect Musicfest accessory! Here are a few ways you can wear one.... These comfy dresses by Dear Pony are super cute on their own or worn over jeans (again a good option when the sun goes down at Musicfest)..... Charlotte and Shea are the wonderful people behind Loden Clothing and they are actually at Musicfest this weekend so stop by their booth to see more of their great designs. This Loden Tide Pool Top will save you from sunburn and it's made of a soft, thin, bamboo cotton blend (love the cute sleeve and pocket detail)..... I'm headed back to Musicfest now - have a great weekend everyone! Summer has arrived! 07/09/2010
And along with this gorgeous summer weather comes all of the fantastic summer festivals that we have here in the Valley! I'm just about to head off to Musicfest and thought that these Billygoat Designs bags made from recycled men's shirts (made in Nanaimo) would be perfect for a summer festival..... Sabrina Butterfly capris made of a super comfortable stretch linen fabric (that's machine wash and dryable) would also be great for summer festivals..... More ideas tomorrow.......I have to get a spot at Musicfest before it's too late! Beautiful new jewellery in by Sarah Mulligan Glassworks and Black Drop Designs. Sarah Mulligan, an artist living in Victoria, BC, makes amazing fused glass pendants, earrings and cuffs with eye catching nature inspired images on them.... We also got some new Black Drop Designs pieces in. Jade's latest creations are these hand-hammered sterling silver cups filled with resin and a photograph. The silver cups reflect light in a way that makes these pendants look lit from within.... Her wood pieces are also beautiful and I have to admit that I'm trying really hard not take this one home with me today.... Rita Di Cesare and Nude Clothes 06/11/2010
While most of the clothing we carry is made here in BC, we do have a couple of lines from eastern Canada. Rita Di Cesare is an amazing Toronto designer who has two clothing lines - Rita Di Cesare and Nude Clothes. We just got in some pretty Nude Clothes wrap skirts and dresses which will be perfect for those warm, sunny summer days... which we are sure to get anytime now! We have these wrap skirts in 5 different fabrics (all 100% cotton) and they can be adjusted to fit sizes 2-14. Morena Clothing and new Loden 06/08/2010
We have a new designer in the store - Morena Clothing - by Victoria designer and artist Marcy Ross. She's sent us some beautiful tanks, tunics, skirts and a stunning black halter dress. Here are a few pieces by Morena Clothing.... We also have new Loden designs in - cozy Island Cardigans, cute three quarter sleeve tops with pockets, and yes, the fantastic Pedal Jackets.......but there's only one left! Community Way 06/03/2010
Be is now accepting Community Way dollars! For those of you who aren't familiar with Community Way, it's a local currency that can be used at various businesses in the Comox Valley. Community Way is a fantastic program that benefits several different community organizations and projects and also keeps local money circulating in the Comox Valley. We are accepting Community Way dollars for up to 30% of purchases (excluding sale items). You can get Community Way dollars by buying them directly from any community organization that's involved - supporting your choice of community organizations or projects. The Comox Valley Transition Society is one community organization that you can purchase Community Way dollars from. What a great way to support women in our community! Here's what our local currency looks like..... I would also like to congratulate Lisa - the lucky winner of our May draw for a $50 gift certificate! And thank you to everyone who joined our mailing list last month. One of my very favorite Comox Valley artists, April Lacheur, is moving away next month and her last show in the Valley is coming up this weekend. It's April's art on canvas that's in the Shi belt buckles, cuffs and pendants we have in the store. April will be at the Art & Bloom Festival at the Kitty Coleman Woodland Gardens this Saturday, Sunday and Monday. She is planning to have some special deals just to thank Valley residents for their support. So if you're like me and have been coveting a piece of April's art for a while - now is the time! I know just the piece I want and you'll probably see it up in the store next week (unless my living room can't part with it!). Besides her beautiful paintings, April will also have cards, prints, painted bags and journals at the festival. April is an incredible artist and an all around fantastic and inspiring person - she will be missed! Also just a reminder......there's only a week left in May to get your name into our draw for a $50 gift certificate (see below in my earlier post for details)! |
