Soooo happy to feel that warm sunshine this week! I'm also so happy to have an amazing new line in the store - Little Houses Clothing. Little Houses Clothing is designed and made in Vancouver by Shanah Flodstrom. Her unique designs are produced in small runs and tend to be a combination of classic and modern. I've always been really attracted to the asymmetrical fronts of Little Houses jackets and tops. Here are a few pieces from the Little Houses fall collection.... One of my favorite jackets ever, the Marla sweater above is available in charcoal grey and a beautiful brown. We have lots of other new arrivals in as well - including new Togs, Two of Hearts, and Cici. Enjoy the sunshine out there while it lasts!
There is a great little shop in Vancouver called Twigg & Hottie that has been supporting independent Canadian designers for years. The three women who own and operate Twigg & Hottie are the same three women who design the line We3. This is their 5th season designing together and the 3rd season that we have been fortunate enough to have their fantastic designs here at be. Sustainable fabrics, comfortable and stylish - what more could we want? Here are some pieces from the We3 fall collection.... The Luna cardigan above and Eclipse hat below are 100% merino wool (oh so soft and cozy) and the cardigan can also be worn open and belted across the back. Speaking of merino wool, we also have a great merino wool dress by Allison Wonderland. It can be pulled up and worn as a tunic with pants or leggings as well (available in black and coming soon sandy brown).... This is the Last Tango dress by Allison Wonderland - but believe me it's not nearly as short when it's not on a six foot tall model! Love that it has pockets.... And the Deer Hunter dress is just too cute!
I love it when designers send me their photos to use because it saves me (and you) from my own fairly pathetic attempts at photography - which never seem to do any justice to the clothing at all. What can I say? Anyways, I especially love it when designers send me really great photos like the ones I got of our new fall pieces by cinder + smoke. And a great big thank you to Janna for sending the photos not once, but twice, because my own brilliant efforts at resizing one left me with a perfect sized picture of the model's eye and hair (yes, just one eye). Again, what can I say! So here are the fantastic photos of the even more fantastic fall pieces we've received from cinder + smoke.... The Sabine Dress The Mimi Top The Soren Sweater
New Jennifer Glasgow Designs in the store include some beautiful tops as well as these two gorgeous dresses.... And Adrienne brought us some new bags! For those of you who don't know about a.d.e. Designs bags, they are designed and made right here in town by an amazing lady who happens to be celebrating her birthday this weekend - HAPPY BIRTHDAY ADRIENNE!! She makes incredible one-of-a-kind bags using lots of recycled, reclaimed, and vintage fabrics, as well as seatbelts for straps.... And I said I would take a picture of the new Stealth coat by Dru's Designs so here it is (available in charcoal and brown).... We've had some fantastic fall arrivals this week and there's a lot more to come! Next week we're expecting new Allison Wonderland, We3, Skyler, and a couple of new lines to the store that I think you're going to love!
Erdaine is a beautiful knit line that I was very excited to discover is now being designed and made in Ladysmith, BC. I knew that I would love the Erdaine fall sweaters we had coming... I just didn't know how much! And apparently I'm not the only one. After being in the store only a few short days one style has already sold out! If you've ever worn merino wool you'll know how amazing it is - incredibly soft, breathable, non-itchy, and it always feels so warm, dry and cozy on rainy days like today. You can definitely wear it right against your skin and it even has antibacterial properties. Merino wool is known to be excellent at regulating body temperature as it provides warmth without overheating and wicks moisture away from the skin - yay for those Merino sheep! We have this long cowl neck sweater in black and burgundy. It's 100% extra fine merino wool and fits like a dream.... A classic cardigan in black made from a merino wool and cotton blend.... This next one is such a fantastic design (and I promise to try to get a couple more). We had it in black and burgundy as well.... Erdaine merino wool circle scarves will be here soon too. Thank you Erdaine for sending us to merino wool heaven!!!
Dru's Design is a great line by the wonderful and talented Meghan Irish (I really love her name as well as her designs) who works out of a studio that I always have trouble finding in Vancouver. Some of her fall collection has just arrived at the store and opening the box was delightfully dangerous as I immediately wanted to take one of everything home with me. Here are a few of the pieces we've received so far.... We also got in the Stealth Coat (Dru's Design) which is a great button up high collared jacket. I'll try to post pictures later. And there's still more Dru's Design pieces to come.......along with another fifteen or so fall lines on the way!
....but it's not here yet! We should start to get some new fall arrivals in the store next week and while it's always exciting to get boxes full of new clothes, I'm not convinced yet that we've really reached the end of summer. The weather out there is too fantastic! But our summer clearance sale is winding down. There are still some great end-of-summer deals to be had though. We've also just received some new Morena Clothing pieces that are perfect for this end-of-summer weather. Velvet pocket skirts, organic cotton tunics and a soft knit baby blue bolero to throw on your shoulders on those crisp, cool evenings. Ahh summer - it was just too good!
